Kontrol once again named one of America’s most successful companies.
Spokane, Wash., September 3, 2019 – Kontrol, an innovative provider of advanced payment solutions, today announced it has been named to the prestigious Inc. 5000 list, for the second year in a row. The Inc. 5000 is Inc. magazine’s annual guide to the fastest-growing, privately held companies in the United States.
"It's a remarkable honor to be recognized by Inc. for a second consecutive year as one of the most successful companies in America,” said Scott Songer, chief executive officer of Kontrol. “Our talented, dedicated sales and operating teams, in collaboration with our loyal client organizations, have really driven Kontrol’s growth over the last eight years, and the last three in particular. We are excited to continue this momentum into 2020, as we help our customers streamline and secure their accounts payable while optimizing their revenues."
Since its founding in 2011, Kontrol has consistently driven change in the payments industry. The company grew by 283 percent over the past three years, exceeding the Inc. 5000 list’s median three-year growth rate of 157.4 percent. Kontrol is ranked 48th out of Maryland companies on the list.
In its 38th year, the Inc. 5000 list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment— its independent small and mid-sized businesses. The 2019 honorees generated a combined $237.7 billion in revenue last year. Companies such as Microsoft, Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, GoPro, Timberland, Clif Bar, Patagonia, Oracle, Box, GrubHub and many other household names first gained national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000.
The 2019 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2015 to 2018. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2015. Honorees have to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2018. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2015 is $100,000; the minimum for 2018 is $2 million.
